    Synopsis. Born on May 9, , in Scotland, J.M. Barrie was a Scottish dramatist, best known for writing Peter Pan in , or The Boy Who Would Never Grow son of Scottish weavers, he moved Born: It's home to beautiful mermaids and fairies, as well as dastardly pirates ruled by the evil Captain Hook. It's a place for lost boys, hungry crocodiles, and, most of all, people who don't want to grow up. The Darling children don't know anything about Neverland, until a magical boy named Peter Pan .

    In Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, J.M. Barrie first created Peter Pan as a baby, living a wild and secret life with birds and fairies in the middle of Barrie let this remarkable child grow a little older and he became the boy-hero of Neverland, making his first appearance, with Wendy, Captain Hook, and the Lost Boys, in Peter and Wendy/5().   There he met the Llewelyn Davies boys who inspired him in writing about a baby boy who has magical adventures in Kensington Gardens (included in The Little White Bird), then to write Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, a "fairy play" about this ageless boy and an ordinary girl named Wendy who have adventures in the fantasy setting of Neverland.

      Peter Pan has taken to sitting on the window sill at the Darling family home in London, so that he can listen to Mrs. Darling telling bedtime stories to her children, Wendy, John and Michael. He is never usually seen, but one night, Mrs. Darling spots him and he has to make a quick exit. In his haste, he leaves his shadow behind. Peter and Wendy tells the classic story of Peter Pan, a mischievous little boy who can fly, and his adventures on the island of Neverland with Wendy and her brothers, the fairy Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys, the Indian princess Tiger Lily, and the pirate Captain Hook.
